Abstract

<p><em>One of the means of reducing the problem of inadequate instructional materials and teaching resources in sciences is to improvise. This entails the use of available locally made materials to assist teaching and learning of sciences in place of inadequate laboratory facilities, which have been identified as one of the contributory factors to students’ low achievement among science students. This study presents improvisation as a means to complement available teaching resources in science teaching at the secondary school level. The study also presents how different teaching materials can be improvised with locally made materials to aid science teaching and learning, while the challenges of improvisation and suggestions to the challenges are also discussed</em></p>
