Abstract

Lichen Simplex Chronicus (LSC), a prevalent dermatological condition, manifests as a skin disorder marked by the lichenification of skin tissue induced by persistent and excessive scratching [1]. The disorder exhibits a global distribution, predominantly affecting adults, with a mild inclination towards females [2]. Despite its common occurrence, the pathogenesis of LSC remains intricately complex and poorly understood. This paper delves into the current understanding of LSC, emphasizing its widespread prevalence and the distinctive lichenified skin presentation resulting from chronic scratching. While the condition affects both genders, a subtle predilection for females is observed, adding a nuanced dimension to its epidemiology [2]. The enigma surrounding the pathogenesis of LSC is explored, with a particular focus on disruptions in the skin barrier as potential triggers or contributors to the exacerbation of pathological symptoms [3]. Investigations into LSC have uncovered its global impact, suggesting the need for a comprehensive exploration of its underlying mechanisms to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The role of skin barrier irregularities in initiating or amplifying LSC symptoms forms a critical aspect of this inquiry, shedding light on potential avenues for targeted interventions. The presented abstract seeks to encapsulate the essential aspects of LSC, encompassing its clinical characteristics, global prevalence, and the current gaps in understanding its intricate pathogenesis
