Abstract

<p><em>With diverse aetiologies, treatment pathways and outcomes, haematological malignancies comprise a heterogeneous group of over 60 cancers.<sup>1,2 </sup>Critically for epidemiology, appreciation of the similarities and differences within this complex cancer group only emerged in recent decades, as understanding about the relationship between the various haematological malignancies, the bone marrow, the immune system and the cellular and genetic basis of malignant transformation gradually increased</em></p>
