Abstract

This study investigates the effects of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) on the financial performance of WADE Funeral Services in the context of evolving digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain-based services. Employing a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 73 participants through questionnaires and interviews at the company’s head offices. Findings reveal that ERP adoption positively influences financial performance by consolidating resources, optimizing data management, streamlining administration, and automating resource allocation, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness. However, WADE Funeral Services faces significant challenges in harnessing the full benefits of ERP due to inadequate technological infrastructure, high system upgrade and maintenance costs, and financial constraints. External and internal factors—including political interference, economic fluctuations, regulatory requirements, technological dynamism, workforce illiteracy, and leadership styles—further impede effective ERP implementation. The study underscores the importance of addressing these barriers to maximize ERP benefits and improve financial performance in funeral service companies. By highlighting both the potential and the challenges of ERP adoption, this research provides insights for management, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to enhance organizational efficiency and financial sustainability through digital systems
