Abstract
<p><em>This paper analyzes the language style used by Ifeoma Okoye in her novel Men without Ears. It examines how Okoye employs specific linguistic approaches to convey her message and achieve particular effects on readers. In the novel, she critiques societal ills in Nigeria in contrast to other societies, such as Tanzania. The metaphorical title, Men without Ears, highlights the obstinacy of Nigerians who perpetuate corrupt practices through continuous illicit transactions. Through her careful use of language, Okoye exposes the most corrupt elements among government officials, security agencies, and others, while eliciting the attention and sympathy of readers who may be directly or indirectly involved in such practices. This study demonstrates that strategic use of language style can serve as an effective tool for addressing societal malfunctions in Nigeria</em></p>
