Abstract
<p><em>This study is initiated to examine the relationship between financial management and school effectiveness in secondary schools in Sokoto state. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. Multi-stage sampling techniques were used to select 357 staff as participants to this study. The instrument used for this study is questionnaire which was entitled “Utilization of Financial Management Rating Scale (UFMRS). The instrument was pilot tested after experts in the field of education have find out the content validity. The pilot study was conducted a reliability index of 0.82 was obtained. The data collected were subjected to simple descriptive statistics. The results indicated that, internally generated revenue, financial control, financial allocation, financial accountability and financial transparency enhance school effectiveness in secondary schools in Sokoto state. Finally, the researcher recommended that; the government alongside the management should put create more avenues for; internally generated revenue, financial control, financial accountability, financial allocation and financial transparency in order to improve/enhance more effectiveness in secondary schools in Sokoto state</em></p>
