Abstract

The educational landscape in China is undergoing a transformative shift, as outlined in the directives presented during the Nineteenth National Congress by General Secretary Xi Jinping. This report delineates the evolving requirements for Chinese education, emphasizing the implementation of the Party's educational policy and a commitment to the foundational task of instilling moral integrity. The overarching goals include advancing quality education, fostering educational equity, and nurturing individuals with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and aesthetic appreciation. This educational agenda aligns seamlessly with the fundamental principles driving the "double first-class" construction of universities and disciplines. Central to this paradigm is the concept of "core literacy," a multifaceted approach aimed at cultivating essential character traits and key abilities in students. The university stage emerges as a pivotal juncture, marking the transition from secondary school to higher education and, subsequently, from an academic environment to societal engagement. Within this dynamic, the cultivation of sports core literacy among college students assumes paramount significance, contributing directly to their learning acumen and enhancing employability. Notably, emphasis is placed on the development of sports morality and sports accomplishment, recognizing these as integral components of students' overall character. The traditional physical education curriculum at the college level emerges as a cornerstone in this transformative educational journey. It plays a crucial role in shaping and elevating the core quality of students' physical education, aligning seamlessly with the broader objectives of character development and holistic competency. As China charts its course towards educational excellence, the integration of sports core literacy within higher education stands as a strategic imperative, poised to empower students for success in both academic pursuits and the broader societal context
