Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an integral component of the modern media ecosystem. This study aims to (1) describe the current state of AI technology and its role in modernizing journalism, (2) examine its impact on journalistic practices, (3) identify potential implications for the future of journalists, and (4) explore ethical and professional challenges arising from AI adoption in journalism. The study concludes that AI enhances journalism in the digital age by addressing core issues such as combating fake news, supporting editorially consistent news editing, and enabling content personalization. However, AI also raises professional and ethical concerns, including potential undermining of creativity, lack of monitoring, bias, transparency, fairness, and data quality issues. Importantly, the study finds that AI technologies are likely to enhance, rather than replace, journalists’ work, and thus do not pose a threat to professional journalism.
