Abstract

Audit activities worldwide face institutional challenges, primarily related to the inefficiency of audit institutions in ensuring the reliability of financial reporting. A key function of auditing is to validate the quality of published financial information of socially significant economic entities. However, dysfunctions occur when audits confirm poor-quality financial information, undermining stakeholder trust and financial transparency. This study explores mechanisms to prevent and address such dysfunctions by focusing on the concept of quality from both philosophical and economic perspectives. By examining quality as a foundational category, the paper highlights its role in establishing effective audit practices and ensuring the integrity of financial information. The findings underscore the necessity of implementing robust quality assurance mechanisms within audit institutions to enhance accountability, reliability, and public confidence in financial reporting.
