Abstract

This study examines the relationship between strategic procurement initiatives and logistics performance in Nigeria. Using an analytical cross-sectional and correlation research design, data were collected from business owners across ten selected logistics firms through a combination of accidental and quota sampling techniques. Out of 200 questionnaires administered, 196 valid responses were analyzed. Reliability testing yielded a high consistency score of 0.955. Two research questions and hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation via SPSS version 25. Findings reveal that procurement sustainability initiatives, including e-procurement, have a strong positive correlation with logistics performance, significantly enhancing both effectiveness and efficiency. The study confirms that strategic procurement initiatives play a crucial role in improving logistics outcomes. Based on these results, it is recommended that logistics firms adopt strategic procurement measures—such as outsourcing, group purchasing organizations, just-in-time inventory management, and supplier relationship management—to achieve cost savings and enhance overall logistics performance.
